An Engineer or A Musician?

I’m afraid of the machine. Everytime I see it., it brings haunting mind. I don’t know why. It looks scary. I hate to be in a factory. I don’t really want to be an engineer. I want to be a musician. There’s a moment where I want to get out from the college and invest some money on musical instruments.

——————————————-

Producing music is a passion which sticks inside myself for almost 4 years.

I love music since I was a kid, especially instrumentals. Since I was into video game in around 1997, I don’t only look for the game itself. There’s still an old tune which I can still listen clearly inside my head from an Nintendo game. Sadly I still can’t find it what the track is, because I forgot the game. 4 years later,

In 2002, I played Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. It’s the first time I heard Trance. The track is played during a short documentary of Porsche history. I also played Jet de Go!, a flight simulator game. Everytime you finish a-let’s say-campaign, you will have a short promotional video of the airplane you played. There, I found another piece of good instrumental. The guitar is so beautiful. I could even turned on my PSX just to play the video, to listen to the background music.

My love of instrumental grew from time to time. In 2003, Tamayo Kawamoto knows what I love by bringing Raystorm with catchy and ambient-y background music. My favourite one is Catharsis.

Megaman X5 is so special for me. It’s the first Megaman X series I’ve ever played. Besides, my feelings are mixed when I played this game. My favorite parts are when Zero was infected by virus and when he sacrificed himself to save X. The main reason is the instrumental played in the background. It’s just so emotional. I even didn’t let the dialog skipped to listen to it.

2004? Yep. There are some new instrumentals I love.It were from my N-Gage QD and my mother’s Nokia 6820. There were some ringtones I liked to play it over and over again. Backtalk, Streetwise, Electric Eel, and few others that I can’t name because I forgot. The Sims: Bustin’ Out on N-Gage was so popular in that year, right? I saw my friends lend their phone to the others, because everyone wanted to play it! For the music, I like the one that played on a shop in Waterfront Villa. It has dynamic beats and less orchestral than the one from PC.

In around 2005-2006, I played Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Keiki Kobayashi’s works are just…  masterpiece. The music on the last battle gave me a heroic feel. The track is called Zero. Among the Ace Combat Series, my favorites tracks are Zero, Ice Cage (Ace Combat 5),  Liberation of Gracemeria (Ace Combat 6), and Dogfight (Ace Combat: Assault Horizon). This was also the time when I listened to a drum n bass track for the first time. No Time 2 Love by DJ Marky. It was on Fifa Street 2. I loved it so much at that time.

When I wast in the last year on junior high school on 2009, I discovered FL Studio. I forgot how did I know   the DAW. Listening to those beautiful sounds encouraged me to make my own, eventhough I had never played any instruments well before.

Deadmau5 and Pendulum are the early people who to Electronic music. Later on, I know more inspirational people like Daft Punk, M83, Tycho, Aphex Twin, Ratatat, The Flashbulb, and Boards of Canada. I also like movie scores, such as TRON: Legacy, Oblivion, and The Raid: Redemption.

I make music to entertain people. I make music to express my curiousity. I make music to live myself. I make music to earn some money. Well, this is opposed from what my parents’ expect. “Being a musician doesn’t promise you a good life,” they said. I get their point. A musician has consequences to face, so does an engineer.  People always have a hard time, at least once in a lifetime. My parents have spent much money for me, for the college. This thought sometimes drive me crazy. I’m still at the beginning. If I get out from the college, I would just wasting their effort. It’s weird that I’m enjoying making music more than learning subjects and doing assignments.

I sent my first album to them. They haven’t listened to it yet. But when the time comes, I hope it can convince them .

Dia itu Terkesan Menghindar

  • Diajak ngobrol enggak mau. Alasannya malu. Sampe sekarang belum pernah ngobrol face-to-face. Serius.
  • Diajak hang-out selalu enggak bisa.
  • Kalo diajak chat pasti pamit off duluan. Giliran ga diajak chat, dia bisa awet online lamaaa.

I Am Not Lying Nor Telling The Truth

Jumping across the world won’t make you tired

Sacrifice for what you love won’t make you hurt

Deceive to keep what you won’t let go won’t make you feel guilty

Take the whole day to spend on something and forget about the world won’t keep you away from sanity

In The Cold I’m Struggling

My arms shiver against the crumbled crystal

My soul is crawling to the nerve of despair

Hold me

Hold me back against the surroundings

The world is fading blue

it is not coming for you

their words are never true

because the answer is only coming from you
